The only constant is change

Earlier this year, Cyclone Alfred recently swept through Southeast Queensland and the surrounding areas, leaving many communities to face the aftermath. My heart goes out to anyone affected. The damage to homes, roads, and our beautiful beaches is a stark reminder of nature's power—and its unpredictability.

I was recently speaking to a friend on the Gold Coast, and she mentioned something interesting. "The surf has been amazing since the cyclone," she said. "All the sand that eroded from the beaches has been carried back into the ocean, creating new sandbanks and fresh places to surf that were previously just big troughs."
It struck me—how even in the wake of something destructive, there can be unexpected beauty and opportunity.
One of the things I love about the natural world is the constant ebb and flow, much like the tide, rising and falling, never in perfect balance, always having an opposing force. Newton's third law of motion states 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction'. This law describes the constant push and pull that we see in nature. The problem is, sometimes we can be so stuck on the action, that we forget to look for the opposite reaction. We forget to seek out the light in the dark.
I’m not saying that it's easy, sometimes we find ourselves stuck in a trough where nothing seems to go our way. It is in these moments that we need to remember that the only thing that is certain in this world is that change is inevitable.
So if you’re in a trough right now, know that this too shall pass. The next wave, the next big set, is coming. And when it does, ride it. Let it lift you up, and embrace every moment while you’re on top.
Appreciate the highs and have patience in the lows. And remember, the only constant in life is change.
